No More Nyumree Basketball Carnival in Northam 21-22 October 2017

We were pleased to support this event that brought more than 400 people together to watch and compete with Aboriginal teams from Moora, Wyalkatchem, Northam, Perth and Kalgoorlie. With 10 men’s teams and 4 women’s teams, competition was fierce and fun.

At the end of the round robin:

·         Men’s team scores were Gwambygine – 24, Ashwin Blazers – 23, Kulbardis and Bulls – 21, Outsiders – 20, Tune Squad and Moora – 17, One Mob and Brothers In Arms – 13, and Wyal Kats – 11.

·         Women’s team scores were Mavericks and Ballers on 8, with Thorne Mob on 5 and Raiders on 3.

The top two teams then competed in the Grand Finals with Ashwin Blazers defeating Gwambygine by 21 versus 18. In the Women’s Grand Final, Mavericks defeated Ballers, 22 points to 12.

Male Best and Fairest was awarded to Trey Bennell from the Bulls (16) with runners-up Jordan Yarran (Gwambygine) on 15 points and Ashburn Steven (Outsiders) on 14 points.

Female Best and Fairest was awarded to Mikayla Morrison from the Mavericks (6) with runners-up Shelby Humphries (Ballers) on 5 points and Korrine Bennell Yarran (Ballers) on 3 points.
